BIONews + Pancreatic Cancer in 2026: The Dawn of a New Era
Event Description:
Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most challenging malignancies, marked by late diagnosis, limited treatment options, and poor outcomes. This Grand Rounds will examine current approaches to pancreatic cancer care, including persistent clinical challenges and emerging advances that may shift the trajectory of the disease. The session will highlight the importance of both somatic and germline testing in guiding treatment decisions and identifying patients who may benefit from targeted or inherited risk–based strategies. It will also explore the central role of RAS in driving pancreatic cancer and the growing promise of RAS-targeted therapies

Andrew Ko, MD, is a professor of medicine and the associate chief of the Division of Hematology and Oncology at UCSF Health. He specializes in gastrointestinal cancers, with a focus on pancreatic and gastroesophageal malignancies, and leads clinical trials aimed at advancing treatment in these diseases. Ko serves as chair of the National Cancer Institute’s Pancreatic Cancer Task Force and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network pancreatic cancer guidelines committee, and he is an associate editor of the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
