Dr. Kiron is an experienced pharma/biotech executive with decades of experience from early drug discovery through late-stage clinical development, intellectual property, regulatory strategy and product commercialization. He currently serves as Head of BioPharma External Innovation at EMD Serono, the biopharmaceutical division of Merck KGaA. Dr. Kiron has consulted for dozens of life sciences companies, founded and led multiple new ventures, was an EIR at SRI Ventures, and serves currently on many company and non-profit boards. Dr. Kiron has also held operational & executive roles at Pfizer and J&J/Alza in cardiovascular and oncology R&D and strategic business development. He has a wide breadth of hands-on experience negotiating and executing partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, and has extensive global networks. Previously, he was a faculty member at Cornell University Medical College and at University of Rhode Island. Dr. Kiron earned BS and MS degrees from the University of Mumbai, a PhD from the Indian Institute of Science, and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Covid has changed our lives across the board. Home is now the office, work is blended with family life, Zoom has entered our language and dominates our days. And while these are some of the obvious external adaptations to life during Covid, business operations during the pandemic have also undergone sweeping changes. The 3 panelists represent a wide cross-section of the life sciences industry, from medtech to biopharma, large company to startups, hiring to finance. Their conversation will explore how our sector businesses have navigated and adjusted to the cascade of Covid effects including issues of safety, clinical trials, product pivots, supply chain, hiring and finance. The panelists will also discuss which changes may be here to stay and how that will affect the business of life sciences moving forward. The panel will be an interactive discussion and encourages attendees to submit questions throughout.
