SunRegen Healthcare is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing innovative treatments for patients with neurodegenerative diseases. From SunRegen, a leading candidate (SBC003) has demonstrated compelling neuroprotective and neurorescuing effects which are being further characterized in vivo to enable clinical programs to begin. SBC003 contains no structural moieties of toxic concern and suggests favorable safety and tolerability. Our mission is to bring these effects to the clinic as soon as possible given the significant unmet need that exists for patients with these conditions. Studies in collaboration with field experts in Queen’s University Belfast in UK, Oregon Health & Science University in the US, and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland have shown that SunRegen active agents have the ability to prevent and/or slow down the neuronal decline, or even rescue neurons. These would translate into clinical benefits for patients to see or increasing their ability to move or breathe, to recover cognition, resulting in a better quality of life, resolving CNS diseases, and improving aging for individuals.

The main motivation for SunRegen’s team is that “patients are waiting”. Coming from her Novartis experience, Dr. Dong’s passion for healthcare, in full-time dedication since SunRegen incorporation, has developed the company’s research team and collaborations; demonstrating the production of these active agents, their lack of toxicity with encouraging results in animal models.  The organization is ready to expand into clinical studies and to bring real hope to patients as our ultimate goal.

Dr. Dong is a medical doctor, Ph.D., and a biopharma entrepreneur. She started her career as a Medical Doctor at Beijing University where she earned her Doctoral degree in infectious diseases. After medical school, she pursued postdoctoral research at the Chinese Academy of Medical Science. Later, she started her pharma industry career, which included several clinical research and scientific positions in Novartis China as well as the role of a Senior Medical Scientific Expert in Novartis Headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. Dr. Dong has 12 years of experience in infectious diseases and oncology in pharma, and for the last 4 years has developed herself as an entrepreneur. She is the inventor of the leading drug candidate, as well as co-founder & CSO of SunRegen Healthcare AG.
