Microclimates of biomedical innovation and entrepreneurship exist across the San Francisco Bay Area. Forces such as value chain collaboration, university and laboratory technology transfer, related and supported industry integration, and the scaling of production have created a distinct geography of different innovation stories across the region.
This presentation will offer the state of the biomedical industry in the SF Bay Area, including:
- Employment
- Numbers of firms
- Available talent pool of biomedical professionals
It will also show the biomedical industry in a geographic context highlighting the microclimates of innovation and entrepreneurship formed by specific dynamics in different sub-regions. Behind the data are micro-stories of how the biomedical industry is shaping the future of global medicine and discovery. This presentation will help managers with a better understanding of the multiple elements influencing the progress of their technology and business, investors make better-informed decisions about their funding of companies, job seekers understand the skills they need and their potential opportunities, and policymakers coordinate their efforts in concert with technology, markets, investment, and firm strategy.
