Otomagnetics’ technology uses magnetic fields to deliver therapy to targets in the body that are either unreachable by current medical standards-of-care, or would otherwise require an invasive surgery to reach. The company is first pursuing conditions of the ear, eye, and skin. Instead of tympanostomy tube surgery for recurrent or chronic middle ear conditions (the most common pediatric surgery in the United States), our magnetic injection system can deliver therapy into the middle ear without tubes or surgery. Magnetic injection can also deliver orders of magnitude more therapy to the cochlea as compared to current standards of care. It can deliver therapy into the eye without needle injections. Currently there are no effective treatments for hearing loss, tinnitus, or to protect hearing from chemotherapy regimens; and treatments for recurrent/chronic middle ear infections and eye macular degeneration are invasive (surgery, needles in the eye). The technology uses magnetic fields to achieve non-invasive delivery. In pre-clinical studies it has shown an improved therapeutic effect for middle ear infections, hearing loss, tinnitus, and protection of hearing from chemotherapy regimens.

In this talk, Abhita will be presenting about Otomagnetics’s technology as well as discussing the clinical markets that will be served.
