Event Topic:
Obesity is driven by a Biological Switch

Event Description:
Dr Johnson will discuss the evidence that there is a biological switch that is responsible for why humans are getting obesity and diabetes. The switch is also used by animals in nature in preparation for hibernation. The mechanism activating the switch is now understood and it can be triggered by specific foods. Increasing evidence shows the switch is also at the basis of what causes cardiovascular disease, liver and kidney disease, and even conditions such as dementia.
