Topic: Make Sure You Know How to Swim (Hack) Before You Dive into the Medical Device Cybersecurity Sea
Concern about cybersecurity for medical devices dates back to at least 2007, which is when Vice President Cheney had the wireless capabilities disabled on the pacemaker that he was having implanted. The last six or seven years has seen growing interest. In early August, there were around 10,000 visitors to the medical devices area in the huge Defcon “hacker” conference in Las Vegas.

This presentation will touch on the following topics:

  • the network-connected medical devices ecosystem
  • a little bit about software as a medical device
  • cybersecurity key points
  • cybersecurity for medical devices
  • cybersecurity and the Minimum Viable Product
  • from software development lifecycle management to connected medical device lifecycle management
  • Defcon – the Hacker Conference
