Speaker: Salmaan Hameed
VP of R&D and Product Development, Avantis Medical Systems

Abstract:
Colonoscopy is recognized as the gold standard for colorectal cancer detection, however, there are limitations to the procedure including an average polyp miss rate of 21-24%. The company has developed a platform technology utilizing advanced optics, imaging, and software analysis for the screening and early detection of cancer, with colorectal cancer as its first clinical application. A recent study with 33 patients at Weill Cornell New York-Presbyterian/Queens Hospital showed much improved adenoma detection rates. System concept and clinical results will be presented.
