Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We do not use any kind of analytics online or offline on the data we have collected on you.  However, we do have an archived record of our database, which, in the future, could be used to help us find information about our site (which may include data about you).  These searches are for informational purposes only and the results are not shared with any outside organization.

Who we share your data with

We will not rent or sell your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. We will not share your contact information without your knowledge.  Generally, we do not share your data with anyone, unless it is required by legal purposes.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. Your request to access your data will be accommodated as long as the burden of providing that data is reasonable. We reserve the right to completely erase any data of any member (including yours) without prior notice.  If we have no data on you or your membership, we reserve the right to not honor any requests on your personal data.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Your contact information

Your contact information is a part of your personal data as it pertains to your membership in the Bio2Device Group.  Please see the section above on how we share your data.

Additional information

How we protect your data

We make a reasonable effort to protect your data.  This includes password protected access to the user database and other databases on our website.  But note that we use a commercial ISP (Internet Service Provider –  Bluehost.com) which provides a “shared” server to host this website.  Bluehost.com (ISP) has complete control over the security of the data we hold on their servers.  Be advised that the Bio2Device Group is not accepting responsibility for any breach of security since the data is under the ISP’s control.

What data breach procedures we have in place

We have the basic data protection measure provided by our ISP (Bluehost).   The most basic access to our website and its database is the password-protected access to our site.  In addition, there are other security measures such as https certificate, which, when available, is provided by our ISP.

What third parties we receive data from

We do not receive any automated third party data to use on our website.  We do retrieve information and news from other sources offline and incorporate them into news items (if any) or as part of our event announcements, or part of speakers’ presentations.  In those cases, any such information, news, or data should be considered un-verified information and users should use this information at his/her own discretion.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

We do not conduct any automated decision making and/or profiling with user data.
